Garden hose, wooden matchsticks, iron rake, thatch rake, dethatching machine, garden fork, hand or machine aerator and leaf rake.

The lawn must be dethatched if the thatch is more than 1/2″ thick and compacted. To assess the level of compaction of the soil, water the lawn and note how quickly the water is absorbed in various areas of the lawn. The soil is compacted if the water does not absorb quickly. If a wooden matchstick cannot be easily inserted into the soil, then it is compacted.

If the lawn needs to be dethatched, use an iron rake or thatch rake to cut through and rake off thatch. Rent a walk behind dethatching machine for larger lawns. Dethatching should only be done in the fall.

Tempered Glass Vs Standard Glass

Tempered glass is processed in a different way than the standard type. All types of glass are manufactured by mixing lime, sand and soda ash, and then melting them at extremely high temperatures. The resulting liquid is shaped into glass by means of blowing, drawing or pressing. When the glass is formed, it undergoes an annealing process, where it is heated again then cooled. This protects it from breaking and strengthens it, as well.

The annealing process, which is also known as cooling, determines if glass can be tempered or not. Standard type is cooled slowly while the tempered kind is cooled rapidly. When glass is cooled, it becomes more durable to withstand four times the pressure of regular type. Moreover, it responds to breakage in a different way.

These two types of glass are obviously different in the way they break or shatter. Tempered glass breaks into small pieces that are evenly shaped, posing less risk of injury to people who come in contact with them. On the other hand, standard glass breaks into large, sharp pieces of different shapes, making them more harmful.

However, many focus on the inside of the residence and forget that the exterior is the first thing guests will see. If you want to make your residence pop, you can implement several exterior home improvement projects.

If you do not want the hassle of repainting, you might consider siding. Unlike paint, siding has the ability to withstand heat, cold, and moisture. Additionally, this surface can withstand wind speeds of up to 200 mph. Siding has the added benefit of not needing to be painted, only to be cleaned annually with mild soap and water.

Siding has the added benefit of being more diverse than paint. Instead of just making your home a certain color, you can change the look by adding a stone, slate, or wood façade.

How to Make the Most Out of a Small House

If your house is on the small side or it’s just starting to feel a bit cramped, there are a number of things you can do to utilise the space you have and make it appear bigger.

Use shelves
